One and a half weeks to Prague!

Time is moving fast, and we just settled on a personal guide in Prague as recommended by Katernia at Praguewalker.com – who we first found about from Rick Steves. Katerina is not available herself, but she has recommended someone she knows and even sent her picture in the email. We are also getting her to reserve tickets for us at a performance of classical music at one of the churches in Prague.

We also have decided to take a day trip to Dresden in Germany. It is about 2.5 hours away by train. The ride is supposed to be quite scenic. Dresden is a tough place to think about in regards to 13 February 1945. The fire bombing was an atrocity of paramount magnitude and came late in the war. Thousands of dead, but to what end? Or did it save lives by forcing Germany to capitulate sooner rather than dragging the war out?

I think we are well prepared for our trip. We have most of our items ready. I need to finish up our itineraries and confirm reservations, but other that that we are done.
