We still have almost 3 hours before our planes leaves, but with the 2+ hour drive and unpredictable traffic, we felt it was a case of better safe than sorry.  We stuck to our plan of limiting ourselves to a single carry-on and personal item each.  We are quite the poster children of &#8220;Ricknicks&#8221; as the followers of Rick Steves&#8217; travel philosophy are known.  Sporting Rick Steves&#8217; convertible backpacks, day bags, guidebooks, etc we are at the same time 1) expanding our horizons through travel 2) bringing the insight of a trusted expert 3) supporting the economy of the Redmond, Washington, area and 4) broadcaating the slightly goofy, slightly intellectual image of the enlightened America traveler.  Phew, that&#8217;s tiring work!  \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>The method of the convertible backup with multiple packing cubes and bags to organize and compress belongings seems to be working well so far.
